Act 4 — The World of Tea
Ethiopia broke something open. Now she's curious about everything.
Ethiopia broke something open in Hazel. She'd found the birthplace of coffee — and now she was curious about everything else in the cup. From a Nairobi market stall to a Japanese dojo to a Georgia porch — Act 4 is where Hazel discovers the world of tea.
Chapter 20 — Nairobi
Hibiscus Berry Tea
Hazel had just left the Sidama forest — still emotional, still processing the birthplace of the bean — when she wandered into a Nairobi market stall and a vendor handed her a glass of something ruby red and cold. Hibiscus. Rosehips. Blueberry. Passionfruit. She forgot about coffee for exactly four minutes.
Type: Herbal Tea (Caffeine-Free) | Flavor Notes: Blueberry, currant, tart, bright | Ingredients: Organic hibiscus, rosehips, blueberry
“She forgot about coffee for four minutes.”
Chapter 21 — London
Earl Grey
Hazel came to London to rest. That lasted about four hours. By the time the Earl Grey was steeping, she had maps spread across the reading table at the British Museum, three archaeology journals open, and a shortlist of sites nobody had properly excavated since 1987. The fedora was on the coat rack. For now.
Type: Loose Leaf Black Tea | Flavor Notes: Orange, floral, malt | Origin: Ceylon OP with Bergamot
“The fedora was on the coat rack. For now.”
Chapter 22 — Marrakech
Moroccan Mint
Nobody told Hazel about the pour. She was on a rooftop riad in Marrakech — medina stretching out below, minarets catching the last of the golden hour light — when the tea arrived. And then the server lifted the pot way, way up and poured from three feet above the glass. She gasped. She may have applauded. This was Morocco.
Type: Green Tea with Mint | Flavor Notes: Fresh mint, smooth green tea | Caffeine: Moderate
“Brew it. Pour dramatically. Slow down.”
Chapter 23 — Japan
Matcha
Hazel didn't expect to end up in a dojo. She came to Japan for the stillness. She found the ceremony. And somewhere between the bow and the first sip — she understood why samurai warriors drank this before battle. Not for the trend. For the edge. Smooth. Refined. Umami. She bowed respectfully. Then she ordered three more.
Type: Matcha Green Tea Powder | Flavor Notes: Smooth, refined, umami | Caffeine: Moderate, zero crash
“Not for the trend. For the edge.”
Chapter 24 — Japan (Still)
Hojicha
Hazel didn't leave the dojo right away. She'd just had the Matcha. Understood the warrior. Bowed respectfully. And then someone handed her a cup of something warm and toasty and completely unhurried, and she sat back down on the tatami mat and didn't move for a while. This was Hojicha. Japan's other secret.
Type: Roasted Green Tea Powder | Flavor Notes: Toasted cereal, balanced umami, smooth | Caffeine: Low
“The battlefield can wait.”
Chapter 25 — Georgia
Peach Paradise
Hazel had been to Machu Picchu. The Kintamani caldera. The lost city of Colombia. She had a working definition of paradise. Then she had Peach Paradise iced on a Georgia afternoon. She updated the definition. Juicy peach, tart cranberry, smooth rose. Some things are beyond the spreadsheet.
Type: Herbal Fruit Blend (Caffeine-Free) | Flavor Notes: Fruity peach, tart cranberry, smooth | Best: Hot or iced
“She updated the definition.”
Chapter 26 — The Tropics
Mango Treat
Hazel had been to the actual tropics. Multiple times. She had opinions about mangoes that most people don't have the passport stamps to form. She tried Mango Treat. She said nothing for a moment. Then: ‘This is accurate.’ The AI boys wrote it down. ‘Accurate’ from Hazel is the highest possible rating.
Type: Fruit Herbal Tea (Caffeine-Free) | Flavor Notes: Sweet mango, tropical fruit, smooth | Best: Hot or iced
“Accurate.’ The highest possible rating.”
Chapter 27 — Autumn
Apple Cider Rooibos
Hazel had been to six continents. She'd stood at the edge of a caldera. Found a pink diamond. Had an encounter with a jaguar. Then autumn came. Someone handed her a cup of Apple Cider Rooibos. She sat down. Didn't move for forty minutes. The AI boys filed a wellness check. She was fine. She was just winning at autumn.
Type: Rooibos Herbal Blend (Caffeine-Free) | Flavor Notes: Apple cider, cinnamon, orange peel | Origin: South Africa
“Tastes Like Autumn Victory.”
Chapter 28 — Home
English Breakfast
Six continents. Volcanoes. Ruins. Pink diamonds. Jaguars. A caldera that understood everything. Hazel came home. Made English Breakfast. Put the fedora on the coat rack. The AI boys are also drinking it. Nobody is saying anything about that. Somewhere out there, she had a feeling, there was still one more door she hadn't walked through yet. One more staircase. One more cup she hadn't tasted. But not today. Today was English Breakfast.
Type: Black Tea Blend | Flavor Notes: Rustic, sweet, full-bodied | Origin: African & Indian teas
“The fedora can wait. Whatever’s next can wait too.”
