Caramel, Spice & 1,500 Reasons to Love This Cup.
The ruins weren't on the original map.
Hazel had been following the coffee trail through Central America — fedora on, machete handy — when someone mentioned Copán. Ancient Mayan stelae. A hieroglyphic stairway with more glyphs than anywhere else in the Maya world. She took a detour.
She always takes the detour.
Standing among the carved stone monuments, coffee in hand, she thought about the 1,500 farmers of Cafe Organics Marcala up in the La Paz highlands — growing this organically in clay mineral soils at 1,700 meters, the same land their families have worked for generations. Community-grown. Carefully tended. Worth every step of the detour.
Caramel. Spice. Brown sugar. Rich and warming and completely unapologetic about it.
Beardo's orders: brew it strong. This one was grown by 1,500 people who meant it.
